The Tankerville Arms is en-route of the famous ‘St Cuthberts Way’. We can offer you a one night stay as you pass by, or alternativly, you can base yourself at The Tankerville for the duration of the walk, and be dropped off, & picked up at the relevant stages.

Day 1: Melrose to Harestanes
 (15.5 miles / 25 km)
Set off on your journey from Melrose heading for the Eildon hills, follow the banks of the Tweed, past Dryburgh Abbey, turn on to the Roman ‘Road’ of Dere Street and head for Harestones where we can get you uplifted and brought home to The Tankerville in time form tea.

Day 2: Harestanes to Morebattle
 (10 miles / 16 km)
Get delivered at Harestones, rejoin Dere Street, head for Morebattle, get picked up by us, home for tea!

Day 3: Morebattle to Kirk Yetholm
 (6.5 miles / 11 km).
Dropped off with a smile at Morebattle, you then head uphill to Wideopen Hill, gather in the views of the beautiful border country, trot down the hill to Kirk Yetholm, it’s a shorter day, but a hilly one! Home for Tea!

Day 4: Kirk Yetholm to Wooler
 (13 miles / 21 km)
Get dropped off in Kirk Yetholm, then race the car back to Wooler! Today the walk takes you into Gods country of Northumberland. The terrain gets hillier again, but the scenery makes it worthwhile. Cross the cheviots and the College Valley at Hethpool, you then pass between the summits of Easter Tor and Yeavering Bell, climing Coldberry hill before heading to Wooler and to The Tankerville for tea!

Day 5: Wooler to Fenwick
 (11.5 miles / 19 km)
Step out the door, and onwards to Fenwick Village. Heading over Weetwood Moor and onto ‘St. Cuthberts Cave’. This is where St Cuthberts body was taken to escape from Viking raids on the Island in AD875, arrive at Fenwick village, be collected up and returned to base!

Day 6: Fenwick to Lindisfarne & the Holy Island
 (6 miles / 10 km)
Travel to Fenwick village to wander the last 6 miles to The Holy Island of Lindisfarne. (Tides permitting, no-one ever fancies a swim on day 6!) congratulations, the St Cuthberts Way has been conquered!
